Description of Hosting Features Here is more information about the features of our hosting plans as well as descriptions of some of the terms:
This is the space you have to store your site. Every website is stored on a webserver which is the computer that broadcasts your site to your visitors. Your hard disk storage is how much space you are allocated on that computer's hard drive. Even most robust websites don't require more than 100 MB of space, CyberInsights gives you a full GB (1000 MB)! Monthly Transfer (also called bandwidth) This is the total amount of data (including graphics and HTML web pages) which can be uploaded and downloaded from your site each month. CyberInsights provides 20 GB per month -- more than enough for even a very large and popular web site. Some web hosts claim to offer "unlimited bandwidth" which is not really possible. Not only are they likely to pack your site on an overloaded server and connection (bandwidth costs us money), but if you read the fine print there are always "excessive use penalties" which are arbitrary and costly. In contrast, at CyberInsights, we monitor bandwidth and insure your site is always fast and reliable with no hidden charges. Get your email faster and more reliably from CyberInsights. Online access gets you important messages 24x7 via a simple Web interface. Set up new users, auto-responders, spam filters, and more with just a few clicks. All accounts are enabled to work with Outlook and other major mail clients.
All of our mailservers include built-in anti-spam features which you can configure in any way you wish. Read the details on our SmarterMail support page. Unlimited Email aliases and Forwarding You can set up as many "alias" email addresses as you wish. For example, you might want to have info@yourdomain.com, support@yourdomain.com and help@yourdomain.com. Each of these addresses can be automatically forwarded to any one or more valid email address. So, for example, info@yourdomain.com could be set up to go to your regular AOL account, or a POP account at your domain at CyberInsights, etc. Similarly, help@yourdomain.com could go to two or three (or more) people all assigned to provide help with questions about your site. Aliases are particularly useful when the actual recipient of a particular email may change. You can easily change the address to which the email is sent, and the published email address (info@yourdomain.com) remains the same. Email autoresponders, vacation messages, etc. Use an autoresponder so that each time you receive mail at a specific email account, a prepared message is sent back to the sender. This is useful, for example, if you want to porvide specifi information to people who write you but don't want to have to type the reply each time. It is sent each time someone writes you at that email address. If you are going to be away for a while, you can create a vacation message that will be sent to anyone who sends you mail. Your vacation message will be sent once to each e-mail address that sends you mail. The e-mail addresses of those who have been sent your vacation message are tracked, to assure that each e-mail address only receives your vacation message once.) CyberInsights email offers many additional features available from the Smarter Mail inteface which you will see once your email accounts are set up. We allow you to update your site 24/7 using an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Client. This is a program which allows you to connect to our server and upload your files. We recommend WS_FTP which is both powerful and simple to use. It can be found at www.ipswitch.com, but any FTP program can be used. Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions Microsoft FrontPage is an extremely popular web development tool. You can create your site and upload it to our servers using this extremely powerful product. Our servers support FrontPage components which are easy-to-add features for your website like counters, order forms, and more. CyberInsights always supports the latest version of FrontPage and is backwards compatible with all previous versions. You can use FrontPage to add powerful functionality to your website with an easy graphical interface. CGI (common gateway interface) allows you to run scripts and programs on our server to enhance your web pages. Most of these scripts are written in a language called Perl. Unlike with HTML, CGI's are executed on the server. You can use CGI to add advanced forms, shopping carts, counters, and many other features to your website. CyberInsights supports all of the popular ASP components. If you are an ASP programmer you have easy access to the following installed components:
Secure Socket Layer, or SSL, is a technology that allows sensitive information (credit card numbers, for example) to be transmitted over the Internet in a secure way so that your clients can feel safe sending this information to you. It encrypts all data between our server where your site is stored, and the browser that the viewer is looking at. While many hosting services charge for this service, at CyberInsights, there is no additional charge for this feature. Contact us to have SSL added to your account. Our free SSL is on a shared certificate. Your secure URL will look something like this: https://www1.safesecureweb.com/username, where username is the username you are assigned at account setup. If you want an SSL that looks like this: https://www.mydomain.com, you would need to purchase a secure certificate for your domain. This requires going to an outside certificate provider (we can recommend one for you) and giving them some information regarding you and your company. You will pay them their rates for the certificate. You will also need CyberInsights to generate a CSR (certificate signing request) and set up the secure certificate on our servers. There is a $50 one-time fee associated with this that we will charge your account. Email us at rmlee@cyberinsights.com when you are ready for us to generate a CSR, and we will email that to you in text form so that you can give the to your certificate provider. Once your SSL is set up, either on the free shared certificate, or your own, all of the material in your regular directory is mapped to your secure site. This means that you don't have to upload to a separate FTP address for your pages to be secure. All of your web will be secure from the secure URL. SmarterStats is a powerful web analytics program that will show you your website activity, such as who visits your website and from where, who sent them to your site, and which pages are viewed. SmarterStats provides you with the information you need to effectively manage your website and ensure smooth-sailing for your visitors. Site activity reports inform you of the peak traffic times for your website so you can detect bottlenecks and dead-ends. Numerous marketing reports help you determine how much traffic is generated by banner ads, newsletter sponsorships, search engine listings, reciprocal link partnerships and more! With SmarterStats, you can get the information you need in seconds, delivering all the stats you need to determine traffic, usage patterns and marketing - anytime you want! The leading cross-platform Web application server, ColdFusion provides you with the fastest way to develop and deliver scalable Web applications. We run ColdFusion MX on our shared servers. We allow CFFile and CFDirectory tags, and the CFContent tag. Cold Fusion 5 and 6.1 are also available by request. [Top] Microsoft Access® support enables you to dynamically link your web pages to a database created with Access, which is part of Microsoft Office. Other database connectivity is also available. ODBC Datasource Names (DSNs) provide you with the easiest way to link your webpages to a database. The goal of ODBC is to make it possible to access any data from any application, regardless of which database management system (DBMS) is handling the data. ODBC manages this by inserting a middle layer, called a database driver, between an application and the DBMS. DSNs are easy to set up on our server. Contact us and we'll set up your DSN. The .NET Framework is Microsoft's programming model for developing, deploying, and running XML Web services and all types of applications-desktop, mobile, or Web-based. Microsoft ASP.NET represents the classes in the .NET Framework that enable the rapid development of powerful Web applications and XML Web services. ASP.NET provides an easy and scalable way to build, deploy, and run Web-based applications that can target any browser or device. Miva Merchant is a browser-based Storefront Development and Management System available with CyberInsights' E-Commerce Hosting Plan. It integrates cataloging, product, fulfillment, maintenance, category management, shopping basket, order and credit card processing. Multiple stores can be maintained by one central administrator or specific store functions can be delegated to sub-administrators. The software is organized as a series of modules that can be field upgraded to provide new functionality without changes to the core system. E-merchants can use the browser-based interface to build stores and developers can build modules in XML-based Miva Script. Merchants manage their stores with a user friendly browser-based interface.
